I started my 16 year-old dog, Dixie on CHOLODIN on the recommendation of the Dachshund Rescue Org where I adopted her from 3 years ago. After taking CHOLODIN for about a month, I've noticed that she's much more alert, she seems happier and she's once again interested in life and what's going on around her. But most importantly for us, her appetite has come back! So many times we'd worry, thinking we were going to lose her after she'd sometimes go 2-3 days with no interest in food at all! The sale price at Entirely Pets was such that I couldn't AFFORD NOT to have my other dachshund, 12-yr old Piper, start taking CHOLODIN too! Although she hasn't shown any symptoms of dementia as yet, why take the chance? I wish I'd known about CHOLODIN 2 years ago when Dixie first started showing symptoms of Canine Cognitive Disorder.

I have been using this for over 11 years with my Summer Lynn. It is great for older dogs but I used it daily when Summer Lynn was young.

My Jack Russell mix has had 2 small seizures in the last 10 months. My vet recommended the Cholodin for him since it helps with neuro transmitters. He wasn't ready for more serious medication yet. He hasn't had any more seizures since taking the Cholodin. It does not require a prescription. Not every vet knows about this. My vet in CA has been working with all kinds of animals for many years and knows her stuff. Glad entirely pets carries it!

My vet recommended this product for my 14 yr old lab who has CDS (canine dysfunctional syndrome) after the first week I saw no change by the end of the 2nd week was a big change, his anxiety was greatly lessened - he let me sleep all night! He was also much calmer & happier, he is again wagging his tail and acting like he used to! He is much happier now, he has been on it about 1.5 months now, he is eating, feeling , & moving better, he has put on weight and looks great! He is still improving! Awesome product! Just give it time, glad I did!

I have an almost 18 year old miniature Dachshund who is showing signs of dementia. He has been peeing in the house. A friend, who rescues Dachshunds, recommended this product to see if it slows down the dementia. So far, it seems to be helping him.

However, it wasn't as successful as I had hoped in restoring her hearing as a vet friend told me it might be. Apparently, it works for a good percentage of dogs after only a month and if it does work, it should be continued. Otherwise, it's an expensive snack. But we love Entirely Pets!

My dog has CCD-this product was highly recommended for brain function-unfortunately after 6 days-I stopped-they say you see results in 30 days. I guess I was impatient since he was more agitated. This product did not work for my dog-but alot of other customers have had good results. I WOULD recommend it though.Thats why I gave it a 3 star rating-

May be too soon to make a decision. The directions say results might not be seen until after 4 weeks. My Chihuahua (14 years old) has been on this for about 3 weeks, so I'm really not sure. If I don't see any improvement on this medication, I'll look for other meds/options.

Scout is a 12 yr. old yellow. Our vet suggested we use this product 3 yrs ago and it has really keep him healthy and perky. Some people have remarked during walks, that he does not look his age! I always order through Entirely Pets because of their quick delivery and reasonable pricing.

My dog is 2 months shy of 14. she definitely was showing many signs of canine dementia-barking constantly, bewildered, unfriendliness to family members, pacing, sleeplessness. In a word she was nothing like she always was. the first week on the pills there was a definite improvement. Now 19 days after taking 1 pill daily, I have my sweet, loving dog mostly back. she still barks a little too much, but I feel that will improve also. Anyway I am ordering more Cholodin for her, and will keep giving her the pill daily.

Additional information added 2016) I purchased this product in early January in the hopes of helping my very senior dachshund with her canine equivalent to Alzheimer's. In all fairness, this supplement does work and I saw definite response within about 48 hours. However, I ended up euthanizing her after she had only been on it for two weeks (unrelated problem) so my experience with it is somewhat limited. Where I did see almost immediate improvement was in her alertness. At nearly 17, nothing was going to reverse her problems completely, but that symptom did show quite dramatic improvement almost overnight. Within the two weeks that she was on the supplement, I saw improvements in panic attacks and awareness of her surroundings. Her physical symptoms improved, too, though in all fairness, the supplement might have done more good there if she had not been suffering from the results of a spinal stroke she had had two and a half years ago. I didn't see a lot of incontinence improvements, but again, her physical issues may have been the culprit there. What I didn't see a response was in the sleep/wake patterns and the vocalization that generally accompanies those problems. Again, though, she was only on the supplement for two weeks, so that might take more time. All in all, I'd say I saw a moderate positive response to most of the symptoms this supplement is meant to address. Again, nothing was going to reverse 17 years of aging, but if you have a dog who is beginning to show (or as in my dog's case, is well on the way) the "Old Dog Syndrome", this is definitely something to try. Also, one thing to keep in mind is that a 20 lb dog is going to generally get 1/2 a pill a day. You might want to keep that in mind if you're ordering a bottle to "try." Fast forward 7 years from the 2009 review. Since my review, my husband and I began fostering nothing but senior dogs, and this product has become a staple on my "dog shelf." I have now used it on at least a half dozen seniors, and I've seen marked improvement in each dog. Keep in mind that each dog will show improvement to a different degree on different things. The two areas I've seen the most consistent improvement on is in eating and the neurological areas...circling, confusion, lost in corners. I've also experienced a couple of the negative side effects the manufacturer talks about, but after taking them off the supplement for a few days and then returning them to it, the side effect disappears (usually some form of vocalization or mild anxiety). Cholodin is my default go to when I start seeing difficulty in my seniors. In a couple of cases, I've used it as a dog has begun to go blind, and this has helped them through the initial trauma of losing their sight; something that can be very helpful for a lot of dogs. it's also my first go to when I see some of the beginnings of senior dog dementia. As I said in my 2009 review, this isn't a miracle drug. Some animals benefit from it more than others (I've had one that benefited, but still needed more help from a prescription drug), and all of them to varying degrees. If you have a dog under 25 lbs, you have 1/2 a tablet per day, and that 50 tablet bottle is well worth the price to see if your dog will improve. And generally I begin to see improvement by the third day; and by the third week, I know I've gotten about as much as I'm going to get from it, which is hugely helpful. I'm changing this from 4 to 5 stars, and I highly recommend giving Cholodin a try if you have an older dog who is beginning to have difficulties.

We have a 14 year old Scottish Terrier. She started sleeping most of the day, started messing in the house and acted confused when spoken to. After 5 days the change was remarkable. Now her energy level is back to where she was 2 or 3 years ago. No messing in the house and her confusion has subsided a bunch. I don't know if this product works this well on every senior dog, but I certainly advise anyone that loves their old friend to give it a try. Thank you for a great product.

This is a fantastic supplement with solid research behind it. I've used it with four elderly dogs - puts a spring into their step, improves mental sharpness and interest, helped control epilepsy with one dog as well as protecting her liver while one large continuous doses of NSaids. It is a really amazing product - have never had a side effect or pet that couldn't or wouldn't tolerate it. Entirely Pets consistently has the best pricing once shipping is figured in.

I am using this with my third senior dog. I did notice a remarkable improvement in "old dog shakes" when I first started using it. Now I have the old fellas on the supplement before they show signs of age related weakness, so there's not such a dramatic improvement.

Our vet sold us a small supply to try as our dog is over 12 years old. Seems to work and this price was hard to beat.

Our Sunshine is about 15 years old and has begun to show his age. He has been on thyroid meds for about 2 years and has never grown back all the hair he lost before the start of treatment. Early this year he started treatment for Cushings. He had also started showing signs of cognitive dysfunction. We have always needed to watch him closely in the yard because he was compulsive about eating dirt. I heard about Colodin and checked it out. When I read the reviews for it I was quite skeptical because it sounded too good to be true. I am no longer a skeptic. We started to see some improvement after about three weeks. Since then the changes have been significant. He has been getting Cholodin for seven weeks now and for the past three weeks - Zero episodes of lying on the floor barking at nothing, getting lost on the way from one room to another, and appearing to forget why he got up. His hair is filling in the bare spots quickly. Eating dirt has become a thing of the past.

I have been giving these to my senior Bichon for a few years, and they seem to help his senility issues. He loves the taste and eats them quickly.

My Libby is an old lady. My black lab is the sweetest thing. She has an issue with incontinence. She is NOT aware that she leaks. I feel that this would mortify her as she aims to please. I actually stumbled upon this site and have to say just how grateful I am. This is my 3rd order of Cholodin Canine Chewables have helped with this messy issue.

My 10 year old dog is blind and developed doggy dementia. I had read that this product might help him with his problem. We are still on the first bottle, but he seems to be doing a bit better. He's not getting lost in the yard like he did and he's able to find his bed at night now as well. Has it helped? I don't know for sure, but I think it may have and I would recommend it.

I have an almost 8 year old Doberman who has a liver enzyme problem. My Veterinarian recommended that I give him the Cholodin. In the beginning the liver count bounced up and down but the last two checks have been very good. I take him back this month for another check and am expecting good results again. I buy the product from Entirely Pets instead of from the Vet because the price is a lot lower.

Seems to help my dog a bit - not the raves I found in other reviews, but certainly not hurting.

I've given this to my two older dogs (a 13-year-old golden and a 10-year-old pug) and I believed it has helped both of them. Both seem to be more alert and playful.

Stubby our rat terrier has been on these for a long time. A great supplement to help keep him healthy . It is very affordable and I highly recommend it. Stubby is almost 15 and 1/2.

These supplements have truly helped our 'golden retriever' with alertness & agility. She's 12 & was suffering with periodic seizures/anxiety. She was 1st put on Pheno (1/2 tablet) for a few months but since starting on Cholodin - she has been seizure free for months & even brings us her frisbee once in a while! Amazing improvement. She's more alert as well! Recommended! :-)

My dog has suffered from dementia as he has gotten older. We've had 16 great years and counting! Initially my vet recommended Anopryl and this worked great but was very expensive. My vet recommended supplement alternatives like Novafit, but most of these have been ineffective alternatives. Cholodin has been the best supplement to help with his disorientation. It is more long-term (I give it twice daily) but after a month I was gradually seeing improvement. And although I still use Novafit together with the Cholodin when the dementia gets really bad, this second supplement is only used on a rare occasion. I walk him twice a day and even the neighbors have noticed his improvement!

Before I started using this he seemed to be developing dementia,but now he seems much less confused. A friend reccomended it.

I have a. 15 year old dog and since taking it for about a month she is more alert and awake during the day. She doesn't run into things the way she used to and she doesn't get surprised as easily. She still wets in the house but not as frequently. Overall I have noticed a marked improvement, so if u have an old dog it's worth a try and reasonably priced.

It took about 7-10 days to really notice a difference, but my 16-1/2 year old mini-schnauzer is having significantly fewer moments of crying, staring at nothing, wandering around like he's lost, not knowing his name when called, etc. Physically he's been in fantastic shape for his age, but his mind was slipping. Now he's much better mentally and I can hold off on medication. Wish I had found this 6 months ago!

My 11yr old Chihuahua no longer has seizures thanks to Cholodin. She takes 1/4 a day so the bottle lasts a long time. I have seen no side effects and she even seems to have more energy since being on them. A great, healthier, cheaper alternative to the harmful drugs other vets may recommend for seizures. I can't say enough good things about it. And Entirely Pets delivers them to me 2 days after I order!!

I have used Cholodin on several aging dogs and have found it helps delay old age congnitive issues. My current older girl still runs agility at age 13 and I really think Cholodin helps keep her mentally focused.

Our 15 year old Border Collie has bad hips. She has problems with trembling legs. The Vet recommended Cholodin. He was charging us $20.00 a bottle. I found the same product on Entirely Pets for only $10.00. The product works great...Lacey no longer has problems with the trembling legs.

Our vet. prescribed these and they have made all the difference for our dog. They think she has degenerative myleopathy. Her back legs were buckeling under her and after taking these with other supplements she can now get around alot better.

I gave my 15 yr old, 7 pound poodle 1/8 of the pill. It made her restless at night and she could not sleep. I stopped, then started with one dose about 3-4 weeks later. Same result. It is a waste of money for me. Maybe it helps larger dogs.

Our dog has a great deal of regurgitation associated with mega esphagus. Cholodin is one of the recomended natural treatments. It may or may not help-in our case luckly it worked wonders. We notice right away if his daily dose is late or missed.

My female husky has had diabetes for several years. We've battled several complications with her eyes, starting with cataracts and, long after cataract removal and myriad other issues and treatments, culminating with complete blindness. We test her blood sugar and give insulin twice daily. Through it all, she's been absolutely amazing, accepting each treatment with ease, and maintaining a terrific attitude toward things. People comment how easily she gets around, how amazingly she deals with challenges, and how happy she seems. Late last year, we thought things had taken a notable turn for the worst when it seemed she started losing focus, getting disoriented and even lost. The blindness is enough of a challenge, but she had always managed with amazing resilience to find her way wherever she wanted to go -- though the house, around our large back yard, etc. The new lack of clarity/focus compounded the situation and she suddenly seemed lost in a way she never had. She seemed frustrated and anxious. She even started having accidents in the house, something she had *never* done before. Remembering Cholodin as something our veterinarian had recommended years earlier for another senior dog, we decided to give it a try, in hopes that that it might help, even if only in a small way. Within a few days, positive signs appeared and a few more days gave even more successful results. She is now awake more and absolutely more alert. She very seldom seems disoriented and only occasionally frustrated. She hasn't had an accident in the house since the first week was on Cholodin. She's back to going reasonably confidently though the house and back yard. She still faces the complications of diabetes and her blindness, but is back to dealing with things in her generally happy demeanor, persevering through the challenges with amazing patience. We don't have a "keep her alive at all costs" mentality, and when the day comes that she can no longer live a happy life, we won't allow her to suffer. For now, and clearly thanks to Cholodin, she's mentally back in the game and doing better than we could have hoped.

My previous Welsh Terrier suffered with canine Alzheimer's so badly, we had to put him to sleep. I adopted a 6 year old Welshie a year ago and started him on Cholodin Canine right away, as a holistic vet recommended they be started at age 5 for dogs and cats. Obviously, I don't know how they will affect my pets later in their lives, but I will say that my new Welshie, now age 7, has the drive and spirit of a puppy, races his 2-year old doggie friends and wins, and he's a sharp one. He also thinks his Cholodin tablet is a treat!

This supplement helped give my elderly pit-mix a much better quality of life as he aged - almost 16 when he died. Now it is giving my retriever mix an excellent quality of life - she'll be 17 in December. It helps with cognition, mobility, seems to benefit the liver, and just over all improves the ability to enjoy their elder days. The cat version is great for the elder felines in your world as well. I'll keep on using it when my other dog, a corgie mix, starts pushing his "oldie-goldie" days.

An outstanding product with top notch customer service. I spoke with a rep. from MVP, the company that makes Cholodin, prior to ordering these tablets. A two week sample was shipped from her office to my home Priority Mail as well as a hyaluronic acid gel supplement for joint issues. The folks at MVP have thought of everything when it comes to packaging. The bottle is a rigid plastic, sealed, with a large cotton insert to provide cushioning for the contents. And Entirely Pets was prompt in shipping this product. In fact, their customer service answered my question truthfully regarding the freshness of the tablets; something everyone should be concerned about when ordering pet supplements. Now, as to their effectiveness; I can't say enough about my 11 year old Beagle's improved cognitive functions since starting this product. My vet was amazed at how well his coat looked, improvements in walking, and mobility in general. Obviously it won't work for everyone in the same ways it has worked for us. But you owe it to yourself and your dog to give it a try. I haven't talked with anyone who has used this product and not had SOME improvements.

My 12 year old vizsla has difficulty sleeping at night. He'd be awake, and he wouldn't remember how to go out the dog door, or how to get back in, and he'd need to go out several times a night. Sometimes he'd stand on the floor, stare at the bed and bark, but he didn't really know what he wanted. I wasn't getting any sleep due to his nocturnal restlessness. Cholodin was recommended by our holistic vet, and it has been wonderful. Our vizsla gets one tab before bedtime, and and is able to sleep most of the night without being restless. Now I can get a decent night's sleep too. Our vizsla also seems happier during the day, a bit brighter eyed.

My dog was on Phenobarbital for seizures and then developed urinary incontinence, I read about Cholodin and started supplementing him with that, and weaning him off the phenobarbital. He has not had a seizure since he has been off the pheno. That has been about 2 months, and he no longer has the urinary incontinence.
