I have been using this product for years on various pets with liver disease. My most recent is a 14 year old minature toy fox terrier that was diagnosed with hepatic carcinoma in 2018. She underwent chemo and radiation and has been in remission since mid 2019. I started her on Denamarin on the advise of her oncologist and her liver values have been very stable since her remission date. I now give this to some of my other senior fur babies to help boost their aging liver issues.

It appears that it is helping my Gordon Setter Liver function. Good product.

Just wanted to give a tip I found when giving this to cats since it should not be crushed: get it wet. At first my cat took it fine, then she caught on and it became a case if cheeked meds. She'd run off and drop it elsewhere. I thought to run in under the faucet for a second just prior to giving it. Seems to work! She doesn't love it but it goes down with ease!

My terrier mixed breed dog refuses to ingest the product no matter how it is prepared (e.g., as a "chewable" tablet or crushed and mixed with virtually anything). Wish I had purchased pills vs tablet.

2 vets & a vet internist have recommended Denamarin for my dog with kidney disease. We had difficulty with the caplets bc they were too large for my 6 lb. dog. When cut in 1/2, both halves must be given at once--company says they cannot be saved, and still be effective, for later. The chewables solved the problem, as portions of them can be saved. Neither of our dogs will eat them, but the co. said dosing with no more than 1 tsp. of wet food or similar is okay. This is working out well. d I do wish they were scored into 1/4s.

I was giving my dog Denosyl as her blood test showed low liver function. I started giving Denamarin and at her 6 month blood test she showed for the first time in 2 years a normal liver function.

My lovely Belgian Tervuren Mix became like a couch potato and just was not herself. The vet did bloodwork and found her liver count was over 1,000!! Liver failure. She put her on Denamarin and now it stays at just over 100. It keeps her healthy and alive!! I cannot say enough about this product. This product was prescribed by my veterinarian. My dog, a chow-shepherd mix had an extremely high liver ALT reading. This has been the only product to lower that reading. It does contain milk thistle; so Eastern meets Western medicine. In other words, the best of both worlds. His level is still high, so I have to recheck in 2 mos.; but it dropped from 280 to 215 in one mo. after using denamarin.

I have a rescued golden retriever that has liver disease. When we got him he weighed 47 pounds, all his ribs and backbone showed, he was in very poor health for a 3 y dog. If I had only known about it before! It has greatly improved his liver enzyme numbers and he is as healthy as he can be under his circumstances.

This product was prescribed by our veterinarian for our large dog with gall bladder and liver issues of unknown origin. He is doing fine with it. In the beginning when he was sick, he would eat them plain, but now that he is feeling better, we have to use Pill Pockets for acceptability. He gets 2.5 tabs every morning. This is the easiest time for application since you have to wait an hour before feeding. Only concern is that I have to use 2 pairs of pliers to get the pill broken in half. Not strong enough to do it by hand. Pill cutter does not work.

My senior dog has had several refills of denamarin and her tests show some improvement but not enough to stop the medication. She does not like the hard tablets so I've had to crush 4 at a time and mix with a little food and then poke teaspoon-sized "balls" down her throat.. The softer version is easier to give her. Because the medication needs to be given when her tummy is empty, I get up an hour earlier and then wait to give breakfast. Rather a nuisance for me but I'm glad it seems to be helping her. I wish the price was less!

This is a supplement that my dog has been on for some time. Based on ultrasound results, it works. But my most recent purchase was returned due to the very short expiration date on it. The bottle it was replacing had a better date! Took more than it should have to return for a full credit, but I did eventually receive one.

Prescribed by our vet for 11 year old diabetic male cat with gall bladder, liver, pancreatic issues. My 11-year-old labrador retriever is taking this as part of a more comprehensive treatment plan for copper-associated hepatopathy (primary copper storage disease). Figuring out what was wrong took nearly a month (blood tests, bile acid test, ultrasound, and finally a laparoscopic liver biopsy). Initially, the only reason we knew there was a problem was a high ALT (>1300) result during a wellness exam. We began Denamarin immediately, still not knowing what was wrong. The ALT level did come down a little before we had a diagnosis and began chelation and specialized diet. Two months into chelation (Penacillamine), combined with Denamarin, Ursodiol, vitamin E, and L/D prescription food, the ALT has been cut in half. These are encouraging results, and my dog continues to be his incredibly active self.

Great price especially compared to my vet price. I loved the idea of a chewable tab, so I did not have to use a pill pocket. Unfortunately, my picky little dog would not chew the tab, so I am still putting it in a pill pocket. But still, I would purchase again, because of the savings. Be sure and note if you need a half or a whole tab for you size dog. I realized even more savings, since I only had to use half of a tablet per dose.

My Australian Shepherd does not like this product. This is a dog that will eat just about anything but she does not like this. She literally turns her head when I try to give it to her. I end up putting it in her food bowl after she has eaten. SOMETIMES she'll eat it later but more often than not, it just sits there till the next day. So I cannot say this product helped my dog because I cannot get her to take it. I gave it 1 star not because it didn't work but because I can't get my dog to take it. So the flavoring needs to be changed apparently.

One of our 3 cats has a weak liver. She was getting sick, throwing up, slept all day and had to be force fed food and given an IV sub Q for water. After 10 days of force feeding and IV fluids and giving her 1 Denamrin every day with a pill popper, (a very easy way to get it down). She got completely well. After a year of Denamarin, she was doing so well, we stopped giving it to her. About 6 months later, all symptoms of a bad liver re-appeared. Again, we did force feeding and IV fluids. Now she is permanently on Denamarin, doing very very well, for about 2 years now without a relaps. We give her one in the morning just before she eats breakfast. She'll be on Denamarin the rest of her life. It works. Not sure if other forms of milk thistle would be as good - never tired it - sticking with what I know is working. Hope it helps your pet's liver problem as well as it did mine.

I'm giving my dog these because he had elevated liver enzymes during a routine blood test. His levels are still high, but they have dropped after taking Denamarin. I prefer S-Adenosyl SNAP Tablets as they have extra ingredients that are beneficial to the liver and immune system, and they are also smaller and easier to break than Denamarin tablets, but both seem to work well for helping with liver issues. Denamarin includes milk thistle, so that is a plus, as with the SNAP tabs you have to give Marin separately, but I still prefer those tabs to Denamarin. Both are suitable for liver issues though.

The product seemed to help my dog, and my only problem was with price. I have a dog that weighs 122 pounds which requires 4 tablets per day. That means I would have to order 4 bottles to last a month which would get a little pricey. If you have a smaller dog, then yes I would recommend this product. We used this product until our Fur Baby was too ill for us to administer it. I would have preferred that it be in a liquid form as it was difficult for us to administer to her. We tried both the chewable and the caps. If it is recommended in time, it would be of a benefit...I would advise make the chewable a better flavor for dogs. Our Miss Dottie went to Rainbow Bridge September 17, 2015. We did everything possible to save her life. So, yes by all means use this product.

In Dec 2014 both of our English Cockers were found to have elevated liver values during their annual Senior Wellness exam. Reilly had a LAT reading of 577 and an ALK of 303. This is extremely high considering that a Normal range for LAT is 12 to 118. A high end of normal for LAT is 131. Jeannie's were a LAT of 190 and an ALK of 264. Our Vet suggested trying a supplement called Denamarin. We started them on this product around Jan. 1, 2015. When we had their liver values retested in Feb. 2015 Reilly's LAT was down to 358 and his ALK was down to 220.. Jeannie's levels stayed about the same but her's were only mildly elevated in Dec 2014. So she did not get worse. Reilly will be 15 in July and Jeannie turned 14 in February. Both dogs will be retested around July 2015. I would highly recommend this product to anyone who's dogs are having problems with elevated liver values. It does everything it should be doing. I was very pleased with the results. We bought the product from Entirely Pets, who has the best prices and with a coupon it is even lower. They mailed the product to us, which we received in a very timely manner. My dog, Tink Tink, has liver issues which are kept in check with Denamarin and Vit E. We've tried to change to every 2-3 days, but the ALT increases. I have used Denamarin (not including Vit E) with another dog and it brought his liver enzymes down within normal limits.

This product is a God-send for my little Annie, who was recently diagnosed with liver disease. I could see a complete turnabout in her demeanor within a few days. She went from being totally lethargic to her old spunky self again. I know this won't cure her, but I am hopeful that it will allow her at least another 5 years when coupled with a change in diet.

Our 7 year old Rottweiler never seemed to recover from a severe bout of pancreatitis a couple of years ago. His liver enzymes remained elevated, despite no sign of tumor or cushing's syndrome. We put him on Denamarin and his values improved, so we took him off (since vet had originally suggested a 6 month course). Next thing we knew, his values were back up. AST and ALT were not bad, but Alk Phos was first 400, then 850 a few months later (normal high is around 250). After being back on Denamarin and a new Prescription hepatic diet for about 2-3 months, his Alk Phos is now down to about 286, still a little bit above normal, but what a drastic improvement from 850! Maybe it will go completely back to normal with a little more time. Not sure if it is the supplement or the food or the combination, but it was definitely the supplements that worked the first round since we didn't have him on special food then, so I believe that the med was at least half or mostly responsible for the improvement the second round. I am not willing to take him the off the hepatic food to know for sure, though. Despite the cost, we plan to keep him on both permanently to avoid a relapse.

My 16 year old dog, Sable, has been on Denamarin for elevated liver enzymes for the past 2 years. I decided to try the chewable form as the pill doesn't always seem to digest (she's vomited several hours after taking the pill and the entire pill would be in what comes up). I thought the chewable might help lower her enzymes more. However, she does not want anything to do with the tablets. As it must be given on an empty stomach, I cannot grind them into food. She refuses to take them unless I wrap pieces of the pill up in soft food. I'm hoping this doesn't defeat the purpose, since she has to have food to take it. I will see what her next bloodwork shows to decide whether I would purchase the chewables again or if I will go back to the pills. Denamarin as a whole is an awesome product, just not as convenient to administer as I would like.

Harley(14 year old mix breed) has been diagnosed with a baseball size growth on her liver. Discovered after periodic vomiting and poor appetite etc. Vet recommended antacid and Denamarin which has allowed her to be symptom free for 2 years with a maintenance dose(1 225mg pill per day for ~ 35lb dog). Due to success of this treatment and little or no increase in size of growth as shown by ultrasound, have decided against what would be a highly invasive and high cost surgical removal of the affected lobe of her liver.

I've been giving Denamarin one hour before breakfast 7 days a week for about a year now. My dog's blood work has improved.

We have not used this product for very long but it is possible that my dog's liver values are better because of it. Recent tests showed improvement. This is good.

Our 9 year old lab and golden retriever mix is showing improved well-being, overall better health, and higher energy level with Denamarin (for large dogs) taken once per day. This supplement is a liver protectorant and seems to be making her feel more vital with no side effects. She has an atypical cushings disease condition and this supplement really seems to help her functioning despite this problem.

My dog needs to take this for his liver enzymes everyday as a supplement and it was cheaper here than when I purchased the same thing from the vet. Even though he is a little smaller than the lowest range this is the 225 mg that she wanted him to take.(and the exact same product) So saving a little money is always good!

At his annual exam in 2012, my 50+ lb. dog had one liver enzyme slightly elevated. This year in 2013, that enzyme was up a little more and also another one was elevated. His veterinarian prescribed a 30-day regimen of Denamarin 225 and then a second liver panel to see what the readings would be. We just had the second test last week. The second elevated enzyme is now normal and the first one is still elevated but not as much. Our vet was pleased and said we will just continue to monitor his levels at his next annual exam. The Denamarin worked great.

My 103 lb boxer is taking Denamarin to help with his liver values after going through chemo and radiation for lymphoma. He is in remission since April and has been on Denamarin since then as well. While his values are not back to normal just yet, they are trending in the right direction.
